Preface: this blog entry is dedicated to my father, a loving and supportive man with Encyclopedia-like knowledge, who was gracious enough to give me an EFS 17-85 mm Ultrasonic lens for Christmas. Without him, this entry would not be possible. Thank you dad, I love you.
Today was an overcast day, the enemy of natural lighting photography, but I was too anxious to try out the macro and wide-angle settings on my new lens to let that stop me from taking a few shots around the house.
I keep gaping in amazement at the wide-angle results: I never realized how limited my range was until I saw the world through a wide-angle lens.
The macro is taking some getting used to. I'll probably have to do some much-dreaded "research" on macro photography, and reading manuals is not my style. However, despite the fact that I felt like a cavewoman rubbing rocks against twigs to make fire, the final product is breathtaking. I don't know how it works, but trust me... it works.
Happy Holidays to all!
