It's been a little over a year since I updated the blog, and during that lapse I have shifted gears in my business and delved into the world of wedding photography. For the next year or so, I will be working with Hazel West Photography, one of The Knot's 2010 picks for "Best of Weddings".
Here is a snapshot from a bridal shoot at the Houstonian earlier this week:
These are the headshots I took of aspiring actress Auset before her auditions for various universities and conservatories. The photos were taken at the Chapel of St. Basil on the University of St. Thomas Campus.
The ever-lovely Miko Tsubai coupled with the backdrop of Houston's Water Wall is a perfect match. Anyone else agree this girl's got a future in modeling?
Friends for Life Animal Shelter & Sanctuary is a non-profit organization based in Houston that attempts to make animal rescue and adoption a community effort. Friends for Life's "no kill" policy seeks to find stable, permanent homes for rescued animals as well as encourage animal lovers to become temporary foster parents. The organization works in conjunction with "itscool2care"--a non-profit focusing on children's involvement in community service and activism.
When stepping into the W 19th location of Friends for Life, it is evident that this is a group of people dedicated to the improvement of these animals' lives, as well as the attitude of the neighborhood. Many a passerby drops in to pet the cats, interact with them in the play area, and tour the facilities. However, most adoptions seem to take place at the Petsmart location on Shepherd. The W 19th location is relatively new and is steadily accumulating volunteers and potential pet owners, but more publicity is still needed.
Katie Wright, a soon-to-be junior at Schreiner University, was good enough to lend me a few hours of her Saturday afternoon for my ongoing "black and white" project. The photos were taken at the Nature Discovery Center, a sequestered little piece of wooded territory in Bellaire. Katie was a real trouper through the hour and a half I spent on her make-up and hair and was a great model, giving me plenty of photos to work with for this black and white project and for my website. Plus, she's beautiful!
